ProForm 305 CST and QZ: Connected Speed and Incline Training at Home
The ProForm 305 CST is a compact, foldable treadmill built for walking, jogging and everyday home cardio. It offers speeds up to 16 km/h, incline adjustment up to 10%, ProShox cushioning, a tablet shelf and built-in workout programs.[1]
With QZ, the 305 CST can become part of a much more flexible connected-training setup. Instead of relying only on the treadmill console or its original app workflow, you can use QZ to bring the treadmill into modern virtual training and structured workout experiences.
A dedicated QZ profile for the ProForm 305 CST
QZ includes a dedicated profile for the ProForm 305 CST PETL59817.0. This is important because the 305 CST uses its own Bluetooth communication sequence rather than being interchangeable with every other ProForm treadmill.
The profile is based on captured treadmill communication and is included in the merged QZ implementation from PR #5258.[2] Select the exact 305 CST PETL59817.0 profile in QZ rather than choosing a different ProForm model.
What QZ can add to the 305 CST
QZ can connect the treadmill to a wider training workflow and make its workout data available to compatible applications. Depending on the selected app and configuration, this can include:
- live speed and incline data;
- virtual treadmill output for compatible training apps;
- automatic speed changes during structured workouts;
- automatic incline changes that follow the workout target;
- start, pause and stop commands through the supported QZ profile;
- workout duration, distance and other treadmill metrics;
- heart-rate workflows when a compatible sensor is available;
- a more complete record of your training sessions.
The result is a treadmill that can work with the way you already train, whether you prefer virtual routes, interval sessions or a simple daily cardio workout.
More freedom than a single treadmill app
QZ works as a bridge between fitness equipment and compatible training applications. That gives you more choice about the screen, workout format and training platform you use around the 305 CST.
Depending on the app and device setup, the treadmill can be used in connected workflows with platforms such as Zwift, MyWhoosh, Kinomap and Rouvy, as well as other applications that support the virtual treadmill or FTMS output provided by QZ.
You can keep the treadmill in front of you while using a tablet, phone, computer or television for the training experience. QZ handles the equipment connection while the selected app provides the route, workout or coaching environment.
Automatic speed and incline for structured workouts
The 305 CST combines speed control with a 0–10% incline range, making it useful for more than steady walking or running.[1] QZ can use these controls in structured training workflows, allowing a workout to request a different pace or incline as the session progresses.
This is especially useful for intervals. Instead of stopping to adjust the treadmill every time the workout changes, you can follow the planned session while QZ sends the corresponding speed and incline requests through the 305 CST profile.
You can use this approach for:
- warm-up and recovery blocks;
- hill intervals;
- progressive speed sessions;
- tempo workouts;
- virtual routes with changing terrain;
- repeatable training plans.
The available range is still determined by the treadmill itself, but QZ makes it easier to use that range as part of a guided workout.
A compact treadmill for a larger training setup
The 305 CST is designed for home use, with a folding frame, transport-friendly dimensions and a compact running surface.[1] QZ adds flexibility without requiring you to replace the machine.
That makes the setup useful when you want to train in a smaller space but still use modern connected-training features. Keep the treadmill folded away when it is not needed, then connect it to QZ when you want a virtual route or a more structured session.
More than speed and incline
The ProForm 305 CST profile is only one part of the broader QZ ecosystem. Depending on your platform and configuration, QZ can also support:
- custom workouts and workout editing;
- GPX, ZWO, XML, video and heart-rate-following workouts where supported;
- heart-rate zones, ANT+ and Apple Watch workflows;
- Strava, Garmin FIT, Apple Health, HealthKit and Google Health Connect exports;
- MQTT and OSC integrations for advanced setups;
- text-to-speech, Bluetooth remote and ANT+ retransmission tools;
- virtual fitness-device output for compatible training applications.
Not every option is available in every app or on every treadmill. The advantage is that QZ gives you one flexible connection layer around the equipment you already own.
How to get started
- Install a QZ build that includes the ProForm 305 CST PETL59817.0 profile.
- Turn on the treadmill and open QZ on your phone or tablet.
- Select ProForm 305 CST PETL59817.0 in the treadmill settings.
- Restart QZ if requested and confirm that live speed and incline data are updating.
- Enable the virtual treadmill output required by your chosen training app.
- Connect the app to QZ and begin with a short, easy workout.
- Test speed and incline changes before starting a demanding interval session.
Use the exact profile name shown above. Other ProForm models may use different Bluetooth sequences even when their controls look similar.
The key idea
The ProForm 305 CST already provides the essential hardware for home treadmill training: a folding design, speed control, motorised incline and cushioning for everyday workouts. QZ adds the connected layer that lets you use those capabilities in a wider range of training experiences.
With the dedicated PETL59817.0 profile, you can explore virtual treadmill apps, structured workouts and automatic speed and incline changes while keeping the familiar 305 CST at the centre of your home gym.
