A real-world test has confirmed that the Diadora Exess 11.6 can be used with Zwift and QZ Fitness, including Zwift’s automatic incline feature.
QZ Fitness acts as the bridge between compatible fitness equipment and the training apps you want to use. Instead of being locked into the treadmill manufacturer’s ecosystem, you can use QZ to collect the data from a treadmill, bike, elliptical or rower and make it available to platforms such as Zwift, Peloton, Echelon and Strava. QZ also gives you a clear view of your workout metrics and can connect equipment to more than one device or app, depending on the setup.
It is particularly useful when an older or less connected piece of equipment needs a little help communicating with modern training platforms. Depending on the equipment and sensors available, QZ can work with metrics such as speed, distance, cadence, power and heart rate, and can synchronize workout data with services such as Strava. The exact features depend on the device and the connection path being used.

What was confirmed on the Diadora Exess 11.6
With QZ connected to the Diadora Exess 11.6, speed, distance and cadence were correctly received by Zwift. The test was then completed on a Zwift route with changing gradients, and the treadmill responded to the incline changes automatically.
The tested setup used an Android tablet as the QZ bridge. QZ and Zwift can work together in this arrangement, allowing the treadmill to provide its data to Zwift while QZ handles the communication with the equipment.
How the setup works
For this treadmill, QZ should use its FitShow connection path. The automatic incline feature also requires Zwift credentials to be entered in QZ, so that QZ can receive the route changes and pass the corresponding incline commands to the treadmill.
When QZ and Zwift are being used on the same Android device, the Android Notification option in QZ’s experimental settings is part of the working configuration. Once the treadmill is connected and the setup is complete, Zwift can receive the treadmill metrics while QZ manages the equipment connection in the background.
This test shows how QZ Fitness can extend the possibilities of a treadmill like the Diadora Exess 11.6, bringing its workout data into Zwift and making route-based training more immersive. To learn more about QZ Fitness and its supported connections, visit qzfitness.com.
