ProForm Sport 5.5 and QZ: Connected Speed and Incline Training at Home

The ProForm Sport 5.5 is a compact folding treadmill for walking, jogging and running at home. It combines a 0–10 mph speed range, 0–10% motorised incline, an 18 × 55 inch running belt, a 2.6 CHP self-cooling motor, ProShox cushioning and SpaceSaver folding design.[1][2]

With QZ, the Sport 5.5 can become part of a more flexible connected-training setup. QZ manages the treadmill connection, exposes the workout data and lets compatible training applications use structured workouts, virtual routes and automatic speed and incline changes.

Enable the ProForm Sport 5.5 profile in QZ

The dedicated profile is available from the treadmill settings:

  1. Open QZ.
  2. Go to Settings → Treadmill Options.
  3. Enable Proform Sport 5.5.
  4. Restart QZ.
  5. Turn on the treadmill and allow QZ to connect.

Use the exact Proform Sport 5.5 option. After restarting QZ, check that the treadmill is connected and that the live speed and incline values are updating before starting a longer workout.

What QZ adds to the Sport 5.5

The ProForm Sport 5.5 already provides the essential hardware for home treadmill training: a 10 mph top speed, automatic incline, a 55-inch running surface and a folding frame. QZ adds the connection layer that lets you use those capabilities across a broader training ecosystem.

Depending on the selected application and configuration, QZ can provide:

The result is a treadmill that can follow a planned session instead of requiring manual changes at every interval. The Sport 5.5 remains the physical training platform, while QZ connects it to the apps and workout formats you prefer.

Zwift, MyWhoosh, Kinomap, Rouvy and more

QZ can act as the bridge between the ProForm Sport 5.5 and compatible applications such as Zwift, MyWhoosh, Kinomap and Rouvy. The application provides the route, workout or virtual environment, while QZ handles the treadmill connection and exposes the relevant data and controls.

A virtual route can use the treadmill’s incline to reproduce changing terrain. A structured workout can request different speed and incline targets as the session moves from warm-up to intervals, recovery and cooldown.

You can keep the treadmill in front of you while using a phone, tablet, computer or television for the training experience. QZ provides the bridge, so the Sport 5.5 can fit into a wider connected setup rather than being limited to one console workflow.

Availability of individual functions depends on the selected application and its support for virtual treadmills. QZ provides the connection and control layer, while you remain free to choose the training platform that suits you.

Automatic speed and incline for structured sessions

The Sport 5.5’s 10 mph speed range and 0–10% incline range cover walking, steady running, hill work and interval training.[1][2] QZ makes those changes easier to use in repeatable workouts by applying the planned targets as the session progresses.

You can use the setup for:

Instead of reaching for the console at every transition, you can follow the workout while QZ manages the requested speed and incline changes. The treadmill’s physical limits and safety controls remain in charge, while QZ makes the training flow more convenient and consistent.

A practical home treadmill

The ProForm Sport 5.5 is designed to be useful in a home environment. Its SpaceSaver folding design helps reduce the footprint after a session, while ProShox cushioning, transport wheels, an integrated device shelf and a CoolAire workout fan make everyday training more comfortable.[1]

The console provides the core workout information, including speed, pace, distance, time, calories and incline. Bluetooth heart-rate monitor compatibility can add another useful data source to the QZ workflow.[1]

QZ lets you build on that straightforward hardware with external apps, structured workouts, virtual routes and connected workout exports. You can use the treadmill’s own console controls when you want a simple session, or use QZ when you want more automation and a richer training environment.

The wider QZ feature set

The Sport 5.5 profile is part of the broader QZ ecosystem. Depending on the connected equipment, application and configuration, QZ also provides:

These are QZ bridge features, and their exact availability depends on the connected equipment and selected app. The benefit is that one flexible layer can sit between your treadmill and the training tools you want to use.

How to get started

  1. Install a QZ build that includes the Proform Sport 5.5 treadmill profile.
  2. Turn on the treadmill and open QZ.
  3. Go to Settings → Treadmill Options.
  4. Enable Proform Sport 5.5.
  5. Restart QZ.
  6. Confirm that live speed and incline data are visible.
  7. Enable the virtual treadmill output required by your chosen app.
  8. Connect Zwift, MyWhoosh, Kinomap, Rouvy or another compatible application.
  9. Start with a short workout and test the requested speed and incline changes before a long interval session.

The exact profile name matters. Do not select a different ProForm or generic treadmill profile when the dedicated Sport 5.5 option is available.

A more flexible ProForm Sport 5.5

The ProForm Sport 5.5 already offers a practical combination of speed, automatic incline, cushioning and foldable home-friendly design. QZ adds the freedom to use that equipment with modern virtual routes, structured workouts and a wider range of training applications.

Enable Proform Sport 5.5 in Settings → Treadmill Options, restart QZ and connect the app you want to use. The result is a more flexible treadmill setup that can grow with your training goals instead of locking you into a single workout experience.

The Wider QZ Ecosystem

Beyond this device-specific connection, QZ can act as a flexible training and data bridge across a much wider fitness ecosystem. The exact options depend on the selected profile, platform and hardware, but the broader QZ toolkit includes:

These are QZ ecosystem capabilities rather than a promise that every function is native to this particular machine. The device-specific setup and controls described above remain the authoritative part for this model; third-party apps may also have their own account, subscription and content requirements.
